FrogtownFunk Friday Rollout
7.11 | 5 PM | Frogtown
Skate into sunset on the Taylor Yard Bridge for a carnival-themed night of FrogtownFunk. Expect dance skating, surprise DJs, free pineapple soft serve, and dreamy drinks from local vendors—all set against the glow of the LA River. Costumes are encouraged, vibes are high, and solo rollers are always welcome. Just show up, lace up, and let the good times rollllll.
Silver Lake Shorts
7.11 | 7 PM | Silver Lake
Silver Lake Shorts is back at El Cid this Friday with a night of local short films, good food, and post-screening mingling. It’s free to attend, and the filmmakers are in the room with you—making it feel more like a hang than a screening. Doors at 7, films at 8, and walk-ups are welcome even if RSVPs are technically full. Grab dinner, order a drink, and settle in for one of our favorite monthly events in LA.
Comedy Confessional
7.11 | 7:45 PM | Santa Monica
Comedy Confessional is part stand-up, part group therapy (?), minus the healing. Audience members anonymously confess their secrets, and comics turn them into material on the spot. It’s chaotic, cathartic, and surprisingly relatable. Come solo, submit a confession, and prepare to laugh (and cringe) at the things strangers admit in the dark.
Sunrise Beach Sound Bath
7.12 | 9 AM | Playa Del Rey
Sunrise Beach Sound Bath is your Sunday morning reset—gentle movement, healing vibrations, and ocean breeze all rolled into one serene hour at Playa Del Rey. Arrive early to settle in, breathe deep, and let the sound waves melt your stress. No experience needed, just bring a mat, a blanket, and an open heart. It’s peace, sand, and clarity before the city even wakes up.
Echo Park Pack Walk
7.12 | 10 AM | Echo Park
Start your Saturday with a pup-packed walk around Echo Park Lake, hosted by Cleo&Hooman and Furever. It’s a tail-wagging stroll with fellow dog lovers, clean grooming freebies, fresh food samples, and plenty of photo ops. Leashed dogs only, friendly vibes required. Spots are limited, so RSVP to secure your place in the pack.
Capture The Flag
7.12 | 11 AM | Elysian Park
Sixty adults show up, get split into random teams, and spend the next hour sprinting around a park trying to steal flags from strangers. You might arrive alone, but you won’t stay that way for long. Afterward, everyone limps over to the grass, compares bruises, and eats pizza. It’s competitive, chaotic, and surprisingly wholesome.
Paws in the Sun: Mutt-cha Time
7.12 | 11 AM | Melrose
The Chou Petat Flowin Cafe is throwing a pup-friendly party on July 12 with free puppuccinos, pancakes, and plenty of tail wags. Bring your dog (on a leash, please), hang out with fellow animal lovers, and soak up the good vibes. It’s a laid-back morning celebration made for pups and their humans alike.
Off The Record
7.12 | 12 PM | Santa Monica
Off the Record is a phone-free morning dance party where vinyl DJs spin funk, disco, and house the old-fashioned way, on actual turntables. No screens, just music, and a crowd that showed up to move. There’s MUD/WTR lattes if you need a gentle jolt, and enough analog warmth to carry you through the rest of your day. Free to attend, but don’t forget to tip the baristas and DJ.
You Take Charge: A Self Defense Workshop
7.12 | 1:30 PM | Long Beach
YTC (You Take Charge) is a two-hour self defense workshop hosted by Twelfth House, designed to help you move through the world with more confidence and less fear. Born during the rise of AAPI hate in 2020, this community-driven class teaches awareness, basic martial arts, and striking techniques in a supportive setting. No experience needed—just a willingness to show up for yourself.
Wine & Words: a queer wine & poetry night
7.12 | 6 PM | Chinatown
Celebrate queerness, community, and creativity at this open mic night made with love (and a splash of Rosé). Swing by solo for curated sips, warm vibes, and a room full of warm and welcoming people. Sign up to read or just come to listen. Happy Hour runs 5 to 7, the mic opens soon after, and the rosé flows all night.
Talks & Telescopes
7.12 | 5:30 PM | Mt. Wilson
Talks and Telescopes at Mt. Wilson is an evening of ideas and interstellar wonder, starting with a lecture in the historic auditorium and ending with stargazing through the largest telescopes in the world open to the public. Bring a picnic or grab a bite from the food truck, then peer into the cosmos with help from local astronomers. It’s a mountaintop night that’s equal parts science and magic.
Volleyball Pickup Game
7.12 | 6 PM | West LA
Bump Set Westside is back with its second volleyball pickup game, and everyone’s invited, no matter your skill level. It’s a laid-back Friday evening at Cheviot Hills where strangers become teammates (for an hour) and maybe even friends (for life?!). Show up solo or bring a friend and get ready for an evening of volleyball.
Silverlake Jams
7.12 | 7:30 PM | Silver Lake
Silver Lake Jams is a night of live music, open bar, and summer magic in Silverlake. Expect pasta, spritzes, sake teas, and performances from Jordy Searcy, Oskar & Julia, and Sophia James under the stars. There’s art, a raffle, and a short stroll to an afterparty at Melody Wine Bar. Come solo, leave with a few new friends and a very full heart (and stomach). Doors at 7:30.
Hike Club Meetup at Griffith Park
7.13 | 9 AM | Griffith Park
A 4.8-mile loop through Griffith Park that winds past crumbling zoo cages, dusty fire roads, and views that make you forget you’re still in the middle of L.A. It’s moderately challenging, so bring water and shoes that can handle some sand. We meet by the merry-go-round at 9 and finish with lunch nearby for those who want to keep the party going.
Ceramic Charm Workshop
7.13 | 11 AM | Pasadena
Spend your Sunday handbuilding tiny ceramic treasures—fruits, florals, lockets, whatever your charm-loving heart desires—at a cozy workshop hosted inside the warm, welcoming walls of Hello YR Welcome Café in Pasadena. You’ll get coffee, pastries, clay, and good vibes, all wrapped into one sweet creative escape. No experience needed, just show up ready to play.
Sunday Sessions
7.13 | 1 PM | Malibu
Sunday Sessions is a laid-back live music series on the Malibu Pier, happening every second Sunday through September, and yes, that means this Sunday. From 1pm to sunset, enjoy waves, local bands, and a golden-hour crowd that feels more like a community than a concert. Hosted by The Malibu Project, the event supports post-wildfire recovery and resilience. Parking’s tight, so rideshare if you can.
Queer Here to Laugh
7.13 | 8:30 PM | Studio City
Queer Here to Laugh is a monthly comedy night in Studio City spotlighting queer and ally comics who know how to work a room. Expect sharp sets, big laughs, and a crowd that actually gets your references. No RSVP needed.
Fast Friends: It’s like Speed Dating, but for Friendships
7.14 | 7:15 PM | Hollywood Heights
Fast Friends is like speed dating, but for people who just want a solid new buddy. You’ll have a series of seven-minute chats with 7–10 fellow Angelenos, each picked because you have something in common. No icebreakers needed (but we will have icebreakers anyway). It all goes down at Yamashiro, so even if the small talk flops, the views won’t.
